Is Maya Treks & Research an official trekking agency?

No — we're an independent planning and matching service. The treks themselves are run by licensed guides and trekking companies in our vetted Kathmandu-based network.

How much does a trek cost?

It depends on the route, season, and comfort level — most guided treks run somewhere between $1,200 and $3,000+. Once we know what you're picturing, we'll get you a real quote from a matched local operator.

Can I combine trekking with remote work?

Yes — that's exactly what we help plan. Most people do a work stretch in Kathmandu or Pokhara, then head out for a trek in the middle or at the end of their stay.

What about visas?

Most nationalities, including the US, get a tourist visa on arrival — up to 90 days per visit, with a combined cap of 150 days per calendar year. US citizens can also apply for a 5-year multiple-entry visa (up to 180 days a year) if you think you'll be back often. We'll walk you through it.

Is there wifi on the trek?

Reliable in Kathmandu and Pokhara. Patchy to nonexistent on most trekking routes once you're a day or two past the trailhead — we'll help you plan around it.
